Upgraded to iOS18. Now the music play automatically again.

I don't have a MUSIC account. In fact, I don't have the APP on the phone. However, now when I plug in my headphones (not AirPods) the music starts to play again. I guess it's iTunes. Whatever. I have hand off off, everything that has anything to do with with the music off. And what's even more annoying, is I had to add the MUSIC app back because the music would start playing and there was no way to get to the song that was playing. Not on the bottom of the screen. No where. So, now it's three steps to stop it. Any ideas?

The iTunes app on your iPhone is a storefront. The only music it plays are samples. Do you have any music-playing apps on your iPhone? That would include streaming apps like Spotify and Pandora.

What I mean re: not having it on my phone, is that I have the app hidden. I don't have an icon on the phone. The music is playing from the iTunes I have had for years.

So you do have the Music app on your phone, just hidden? That's a very different thing than deleting it from the phone.

iTunes on a Mac or Windows is/was a music playing app. iTunes on an iPhone or iPad is just a store front. The only music you can play from iTunes on your iPhone is the 15 (30?) second samples.

Do you want to be able to play music at all? If so, with what app?

Thanks. Can’t be bothered. Too annoying. Just deleted it. Amazon music and pandora and Sirius xm don’t start every time I plug earphones in. If I need my itune library I can get it on the Mac mini. Since Amazon is free with the subscription if I need to stream music I use it. I don’t buy what is sold as music today. Classic jazz, classical, songs without screaming and lyrics you can understand. Broadway prior to 2010, mostly music unavailable on Apple Music. Thanks again.
