Pressing Option + v shows the √ (square root) character

When I am on any app, when I press Option + v I always get the (square root) character, and this is supposed to happen ONLY if I am using the Grapher application, I have never used it.

This behavior started to happen when I installed macOS 15 (Sequoia), as a matter of fact I had assigned this key combination/keyboard shortcut to a different app, that doesn't work now, any idea on how to fix it? Thanks

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.0

Option v has made √ in almost every app for countless years. The option and option shift levels of Mac keyboards are normally used for special charcters and not for menu keyboard shortcuts.

For menu shortcuts it is best to always include Command or Control to avoid this possible conflict.

It is Sequoia, Grapher is an Apple builtin app included with macOS in the Utilities folder:

I do not use "Grapher application"

I do not use "Grapher application" if it is third party look for some compatible update there.

This is not new to Sequoia...

It used be a check mark by default, but several maOS back it changed to √

I see no resolve for your issue.
