Following install of iOS 18 notes is lagging significantly. All other app improvements are working well. No other issues.

Re-opening and closing the app (at least 20 times) didn’t work for me. It kept freezing whenever I tried to open any Note. I eventually figured out that the problem was caused by my having one particularly large Note (over 35MB including embedded photos). I finally got that Note to open in the Cloud by waiting several minutes. I then spent several more minutes trimming it down. Then Notes started working okay.
Frustrating that I lost the vast majority of that Note (I couldn’t Share it anywhere; Notes would just freeze). But at least I can now use Notes again.
Apple clearly did not user-test iOS 18 with a large Note!!! 😡
You‘re so right with the „misson-critical-app“. I luckily never had notes malfunction this cruel oike you experience it though.
I turned off the internet, but large notes (>130,000 characters) still slow down, it is impossible to work. Turning off the internet did not affect it.
What do I do though, I donot have an Apple Pencil), and I am having problems with notes app, also ?
If I uninstall it and re-install it, will I lose everything in my iphone 12 iOS 18.1 Notes app ?
Apple Notes has been so unreliable that I’ve been using Obsidian and Google Keep instead! Way to let your competition win, Apple.

I always find it very interesting how some users have problems with extensive, long notes in particular. For me, the lags have nothing to do with the size or length of the notes.
On my iPad when I have duplicated things on notes and then when I select one it selects them all and when I try to delete one thing it deletes them all and eraser also deletes everything
iOS 18 is terrible
It’s 11/29/24, and this issue has not been resolved in iOS 18.1.1

Well, I suggest you just read the many comments and replies to this discussion. They contain some approaches that have more or less helped one or the other.
Crazy that this is happening to such a simple app made by one of the world’s biggest companies. Ridiculous.
Where else can I type a bunch of stuff into my computer and then have it at my fingertips on my phone when I am out and about? I doubt I am giving up on notes anytime soon. Hoping for a fix
I will try one of those too and see if it is adequate to transfer all of my Apple Notes app notes to it.
