Why is there no menu to create a graph in math notes?

My handwritten expressions are recognised by iPadOS 18 Calculator and Notes app. When I tap the “=“ sign each expression appears correctly in a print typeface.

However, even using Apples sample equations, the menu that appears when I tap the “=“ sign does not contain the option to “Insert Graph” as indicated in the User Guide for iPadOS 18

I’m experimenting with Math Motes on a 6th generation iPad Pro
