My iPod nano 3rd Gen has a black line on the screen
As you can see, my iPod nano has a black line. I’m wondering if it’s just a line of dead pixels or the dreaded black spot (which means the battery is expanding).

I'm not sure that the black line is conclusive proof that the battery is expanding. It may simply be a fault such as a loose connector, or a failed component.
The two options you can take are:
If the casing of the iPod starts to come apart as a result of pushed from inside, that would suggest that the battery is expanding. If that happens, I would take the iPod somewhere that can safely dispose of it (such as an Apple Store).
It went away by the time you made the comment (I forgot to update it), but now it’s back and it appears to be the battery expanding this time. I don’t want to get rid of my iPod, so I guess I’ll take it to a repair shop to see if they can desolder the old battery and solder in a new one.
Update: It's growing!
The line has now grown to go from the bottom to the top of the screen, and it's a bit thicker, too! Someone, please help me with this one!
