My Apple pre-order was supposed to be delivered on September 20th. My friend, who lives at the same address, placed an order at the same time, and his was delivered on September 20th at 11 AM, but mine has not been delivered. Initially, it showed that it would be delivered between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM, then it changed to be delivered by 7 PM. Now it shows that it will arrive on September 23rd, Monday, and it is currently marked as 'out for delivery.

This is a UPS issue (or whoever may be handling your delivery). Either it wasn’t properly loaded on the truck (UPS does have a bad habit of false scan data that they will later claim the scans are sometime system estimates versus live scans) or the driver missed seeing it while on route and ended up taking it back to the hub…making delivery update to Monday. Launch day deliveries can be as hectic and taxing on the drivers as holiday delivery periods. You will need to contact the shipper
I've had the same issue, but the courier company has been worse than useless. I've contacted them regularly and asked for the reason behind the delay, and they just won't tell me. All they say is "your parcel is scheduled for delivery on Monday 23rd", except the tracking now states that the phone is being sent back to Apple
What country are you in? I'm in the UK and have similar problems, except no the tracking has been updated to say the package is being returned to Apple
I just contacted them again, and they now say that I should contact Apple if I want any information *sigh
In other words, the "support" person at the shipper was simply trying to get you off the phone as quickly as possible.
Expect Apple to refer you back to shipper.
My pre-order has not arrived.
