Magic Mouse Jerky, Stops, Starts and Disconnects Often.
Having covered all bases for more than 2 weeks, I contacted Apple Support and they had no answer other than to reinstall the OS to resolve a nearly non-functioning, battery-operated Magic Mouse.
The symptoms include frequently disconnecting/reconnecting (even with brand new batteries and no this is NOT an Internet Wifi connection problem), not consistently moving when prompted, hesitating when scrolling and then firing off at light speed when it finally decides to move as well precision (getting close to that little red 'Close Window' button) inaccuracy.
By selecting the Advanced Button and further selecting 'Pointer Acceleration', this improved the responsiveness of the mouse beyond standard settings, but still would never quite reach the target without a little pounding on the desk and a few choice curse words. Given that I had installed Sequoia a few hours earlier, reinstalling was not helpful as an option at all.
Turned out that a relative has a 2023 iMac and a new Batteryless, wireless Magic Mouse. I experimented with the mouse, with Apple Support on the phone, and all returned to normal and persisted through to the next day until my mouseless mother demanding a return.
This thread therefore is a question already with an answer for the many people whom are experiencing a jerk of a mouse, erm, a jerky mouse.
More precisely, the last two updates to Big Sur and beyond apparently require more power than double barreled 1.5v "B' sized batteries, to smoothly talk to WiFi. In other words, scrap your expensive battery operated Magic Mouse and purchase another even more expensive rechargeable Magic Mouse and your life will become jerk free.
Apple wouldn’t do this on purpose, would they?
