Unable to complete setup my iPhone 16 Pro Max

Rec'd iPhone 16 pro max. Setup wouldn't complete without connection to wifi. Screen froze, and now in perpetual loop of hello. Cannot enter passcode, phone screen goes to spinning ball. Any help out there for this first-day problem?
