Phone calls breaking up with hearing aids IOS 18

My hearing aids are connected to my iphone 15 pro max via bluetooth and "My Phonak" app, when I was on IOS17 I could answer calls with my phone still in my pocket and double tap the hearing aid and continue the call, but since IOS18 I can do the same except the call breaks up and I miss some of the conversation, I have tried the same with an Android phone and it works perfectly, I have contacted Apple through the Beta app, so, is there a solution,(restores do not work).

This was happening in the beta, once I swapped back to iOS 17, it was still happening. I was hoping that it would have been resolved, but as it turns out it doesn't work. This is very frustrating; I can't even have a decent call without the adjacent hearing aid dropping. I had my hearing aids professional's swap the connecting hearing aid. It doesn't seem to rectify the issue. Can we please get this resolved. It's not like I spend $12k for the hearing aids and then 1.2k for the phone to have this problem

davy-boy,

I’m having a similar iPhone issue since updating to iOS 18. My right hearing aid works fine during calls, but the left one continually cycles thru various hearing aid programs with their attendant tones. It’s so distracting that I remove the left hearing aid during iPhone calls and use only the right one. (Fwiw, both hearing aids work perfectly with my Phonak TV Connector (Bluetooth).

I’ve reinstalled the Phonak App, turned-off the hearing aids multiple times, un-paired and re-paired the hearing aids to my iPhone multiple times, hard re-booted the hearing aids multiple times…nothing has fixed the issue.

Standing-by for Apple to fix this issue with a subsequent iOS update.

Re: "Phone calls breaking up with hearing aids IOS 18"

Wondering if there is a hearing-aid firmware update available:

eg: through the "My Phonak" app, or through your hearing-aid specialist ?

(You may have a hearing-aid manual that explains the update process / details).

All the best :-)

My husband is having the same issue. Iphone 15 Pro we just got for him. Tried deleting the Phonak app and even went to the hearing aid store. Tried calling Apple support, but nothing they tried worked either. Following hoping there is a solution soon since my husband cannot even talk on his phone without taking out his hearing aids. UGH!

I have found the solution. , make a note of all the apps and info you have if you use Google calendars Gmail et cetera you will be okay, get your iPhone downgraded from iOS 18 to 17.7, do not do a restore as you will end up with iOS 18 again, do screenshots of your home screens so you know what apps you have and where they are, the problem is iOS 18 at the moment hopefully it will be sorted out but moving up to iOS 18 if it’s not sorted out you will end up back at the beginning again so be careful and take your time, hope this helps good luck.

It's a pain isn't it, what hearing aids and app are you using? Mine are Phonak with "My Phonak" app, as I said in a previous post, I have used 2 Android phones and both worked, so, if Android can get it together why can't Apple, as you say the phones and hearing aids cost a bomb, the problem as I see it is....I am on IOS 17.7 which works for me, now how do I know when to update to IOS 18, if I do and the problem is still there I now have to downgrade to IOS17.7 if it is possible, what is the answer-Android or.....EDIT I should have said that I am on iphone 15 pro max, my 13 pro had no problems with the aids.

it sounds like we're both having exactly the same problems. It's iOS 18 that's causing it.

I downgraded to iOS 17 and everything worked perfectly then I tried it on my wife's phone which was iOS 18 and that worked perfectly. I think I updated mine to iOS 18 Stone Me. It happened again breaking up on a call, dear Mr Apple please fix this problem. There must be lots of us out there with it.
