Why is Citrix workspace not connecting on macOS Sequoia?

Since the update to Mac OS Sequoia Citrix workspace is not working. Getting a prompt "Citrix Workspace cannot connect to the server. Check your network connection." This is annoying that Apple can't do testing for business applications before a public release. What's the solution?

When updating Sequoia in my case I had a problem because it continually reconnected, it didn't let me work, however on another MAC I tried installing the same operating system and the Citrix worked perfectly.

So I thought that the problem was either an incompatibility with some app or some item that was running in the background; I tried to close all the apps and only run the Citrix but I continued with the same problem, so I compared the items and extensions that were running in the background, and I discovered that on my MACbookpro that was working perfectly the Citrix did not come with any network extension, However, on my MAC it is, so System Settings / General / Startup items and extensions, in the Extensions section I entered Network Extensions and deleted them and the problems were over.

In my case, the constant Citrix Workspace disconnections appear to have been caused by Sophos Endpoint Security.

Citrix started randomly losing its connection immediately after OSX Sonoma upgraded itself to OSX Sequoia 15.0.1 recently (similar symptoms posted by twojays24). Reinstalling the already-current Citrix Workspace software including removal of its cache and properties files did not fix the issue.

My desktop machine uses a wired ethernet connection which has a fixed IP address, so neither Wifi nor rotating IP addresses were involved. The OSX firewall is active.

The random disconnections stopped immediately after uninstalling the Sophos Endpoint Security software and rebooting the machine.

Next step will be to re-install Sophos and monitor behaviour. I suspect the OSX in-place upgrade didn't play nicely with the Sophos software.

First, it's not Apple's responsibility to test other companies' applications. It's up to the company who developed the application to test their software with any new version of any operating system. There are hundreds if not thousands of applications that run on Macs and hence no possible way Apple could test them all.

Anyway, Citrix released a new version of Workspace on September 16. Have you downloaded and installed that version?

Been having the same issues here. Apple has released version 15.1 of Sequoia which (so far) seems to have resolved the similar connection issues I have had with Citrix Workspace. (also had recently updated my Carbon Black Sensor so I wasn't sure which software update wasn't playing nice with which). I suggest installing that update before doing any other tinkering.

Lesson learned...don't be an early adopter of a major Apple update. Wait at least for the pain and suffering of others to get them to fix what they shouldn't have released in the first place! 😉

I had a heap of problems with my Citrix workspaces client after upgrading to MacOS Sequoia. Latest Citrix client, or the previous version were both very unstable. I managed to fix it by completely rebuilding my MacBook (i.e. factory reset and start again) - which is not ideal, but at least I can work now. My symptoms were a little different to yours - I could connect but would randomly drop connection every few seconds - but the rebuild has absolutely fixed the issue for me, so I thought it may help you too. Good luck!

For assistance with issues with third-party apps, contact the app vendor.

Citrix provides the following info for non-admin people encountering issues with Citrix:

https://support.citrix.com/s/article/CTX297149-citrix-workspace-app-assistance-for-nonadmins

Some of what Citrix has published on the reported error (for admins) goes back to 2016, if not earlier (less than usefully, this doc is seemingly for Windows installs, but does not list that):

https://support.citrix.com/s/article/CTX214338-error-cannot-connect-to-server-please-check-network-and-try-again-on-citrix-workspace

Looks like VPNs can be involved here too, so check the VPN version and status and connectivity:

Again, contact your IT, then contact CitrixSupport.

You mean like announcing upcoming changes, hosting a worldwide developer conference where things like API changes are reviewed in great detail, and providing a beta release program for new OS versions open to developers - and providing months between the first beta release at that conference and the final GM freeze of the new OS?

Lots of other vendors seem to have had plenty of time to adjust to any changes in the NetworkKit without issue - e.g., TeamViewer.
