Is there any possibility of using the photo library on an external drive as it is on the iMac. Apple brags about using the iPad as a computer, but it misses a lot of things. I have an iPad Pro M4 from Apple that can't read Apple's photo library. Nice work.

Macs can have more than one Photos Library, but not iPads or iPhones.
I love my iPad-- it shows pictures so beautifully-- but I don't think of it as a replacement for my Mac, and I doubt Apple does, either. I use iCloud Photos to get pictures to my iPad. And pictures that are in Finder folders on an external drive can be viewed on an iPad. A Photos Library database is a different beast.

I don't care what you think or what you believe. Apple says we're supposed to use the iPad as a computer, and I'd love to do that. The library is an Apple file so it should at least be browsable. I don't want to use iCloud when I have my own library backups that Apple taught us to use.
Instead, I was offered to use the iClaud. For God's sake, I know that too, but I didn't ask.
