for clarification, although it looks like I'm signed in, I'm actually not. If I try to watch something I get an error. It doesn't tell me to sign in, it's just a non-specific error. When I click on Settings, then it asks me to sign in. That's the behaviour that I regularly experience. What caused me to make this post, though, was I stopped being able to click on the image & get the small drop-down menu with Settings on it. It was just dead. Clearing cookes & site data for tv.apple.com is what fixed that

there is also an appletv app in windows11 app store you can get for free
That means you are already signed in.
Have you cleared the browser cache?
that was the first thing I tried, but the outcome was not good - if you install it, iTunes won't let you use it to listen to music anymore, so if you install Apple TV, you have to install Apple Music &, to manage any devices, Apple Devices
