Anyone fixing their lined out screen on their MacBook on their own? Do not go to Apple Store. There are excellent 3rd party repair shops and I’ve also read you can do it yourself! Got it totally replaced today for $300 in a few hours. How much does Apple charge for it?

Keep in mind, you should only repair your Apple products at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. Apple-certified repairs are performed by trusted experts who only use genuine Apple parts.
Also for a cracked screen on a MacBook Air with AppleCare+, repair is $99 in the US. You can use Apple’s Get an Estimate tool to estimate the cost of repair before you actually get it done.

Yeah that may work if you still have apple care. There are a lot of people out there who hope to use their computers beyond the 2 years (or is it 4?) of apple care that don't want to pay the ridiculously high price for a screen repair that's clearly meant to lead people to buy a new computer. I also thought that was the only option, but there are tech repair places with excellent reviews that have been around for decades that do same day repairs for reasonable prices. In stark contrast to over priced repairs close to the price of a new computer that take sending it out etc...just did it today on a macbook air on the UWS of NYC. Don't be fooled by Apple's protectionist policies!
You can also renew AppleCare+ when it expires, and if you ever need a repair, the value is unbeatable.
In this case, you spent $300 on a third-party MacBook screen replacement, whereas the same replacement from Apple with AppleCare+ would have cost you only $99.
The choice is yours.
