Why is my iPhone 16 Pro Max battery draining so fast?

I have the same issue with my Pro Max. It’s gone from 100% to 84% in 2 hours. I used the GPS for a 30 minute drive and I browsed online (no videos) for about 30 minutes. My IPhone 14 had better battery life so I regret trading it for the 16.

I have noticed the battery drain as well! I got the 16 Pro Max last Friday (20/09) and the first day was okay, but since then it all went downhill. It drains like crazy even w/o usage. Sometimes while writing e-mails or having a phone call it drains ~ 10%! I do not think this is either normal or okay. I upgraded from 13 PM for the battery and what I got is something even worse. Who wants that after paying €1900?

Could factory reset help? I tried hard reset but saw no difference. I also had “Finishing upgrades in the background” for sometime, a week maybe, it went away yesterday, but no improvement whatsoever.

My iPhone 16 pro max is the same having to charge it everyday, today I’ve had to charge it twice as the battery goes so quickly never had a iPhone like this I would go back to my 14 pro max but I gave it to my mum 😭 also the iWatch 10 battery life goes just as quick 😩 what should I do?

I’m running into the exact same thing. I’ve contacted support, they did a diagnostic test and saw nothing strange. I sent them a link to this thread, but they were unhelpful. Very disappointing. My 12 Pro Max at 80% battery health lasted longer.

I’ve noticed that it’s not only on the 16 pro max but the 16 pro as well. I reached out to apple and ran diagnostics, checked battery status, etc. No straight answer from apple other than to send it in to have it checked out.

So meaning since somebody got their phone last sept 20th were having a 6 full cycle of charging and it kept draining the battery. I use to charge my phone iphone 13 pro and 16promax with the dual charging ports of the 35W adapter both at 2% and both phone charged the same percentage of 73% at 45mins. I am not amazed and got disappointed recently after transfering all datas and apps from my old 13pro to 16promax and its draining its juice RAPIDLY!!! Need to place back the unit to apple.

I am having the same problem. Super disappointed with this new phone!! I have gone through everything and adjusted the settings/turned things off to improve battery life. I am traveling next month and don’t see how this will will last me even one day 😑

I'm having similar issues on my 16 Pro, battery just keeps draining where I'm at the point I am not even using it unless they address it via a software update or a recall.

Battery was at 73%, did a reboot and it went down to 69% when it restarted, and lost 1 battery cycle! I didn't even do anything to make it lose 1 battery cycle, because I already did the day prior. I am not happy about this battery issue, especially in light of Apple raising the cost to $119 to get this battery replaced 2-3 years later. I am very unhappy with the 16 Pro.

I have the same issue since the iOS 18 update for the 16’s a few days ago. I was pretty impressed the first day or two before the “update”. I got this to replace a 14 pro that got to 80% in less than two years. I work with someone that refuses to do the updates and has better battery life from a pretty old iPhone. Might consider that looking ahead but I was looking forward to AI.

My 16 pro max took 2 days to stabilize. Text messages kept saying “indexing”. The phone was warm etc… there’s a lot happening behind the scenes with data.

then probably on the 3rd day and after a couple of “up, down, hold power button” resets, I’m blown away on the battery. 11 hour screen time with 8% left in the tank.

my 16pro battery is draining very fast. I took photos and checked messages for 30 mins, and my phone went from 100% to 59% with version 18. then I updated to version 18.1 is the same issues here. I turned AI off , I’m seeing up a little bit in battery life. but a little bit better now. is running 18.1, however, betas aren’t the best for batteries anyways.

This phone is iPhone iPhone 16 pro Max is garbage. Everything I imagined would be better than the other. It hasn't changed at all and the battery is becoming a problem, among other things, the button to take a picture gets in the way because it was on top of the volume. There are a lot of things wrong with this phone, and the apple should have rethinked relaunching a phone like this.

It's already a week and the battery drain of 16 Pro Max is exceptional high compared to 14 or 13 Pro Max devices. And fun fact, the device don't really get used a lot, even without screen-time the battery drains way to fast. It is really frustrating, Apple had this issue at least already once at 12, 13 or 14.

same problem on my iphone16 pro! Been on a course all day. So haven’t used phone for 8 hours! Still hit 20% by the end of the day. Not much of an improvement from my aged iphone11 and far from what I was expecting. Have we had a proper response yet from Apple?

The iPhone 16, Pro and Max is the latest device available (2024) and it was just recently released on the market.

The draining battery issue will probably go away shortly as newer Apple devices tend to have this issue to calibrate the battery capacity of your device.

The very same thing occurred during the release of 6S.
