I had an iPhone 13 Pro Max with all my contacts. It broke when I was in an accident. And was given an iPhone 14 Pro Max but it doesn’t have all my contact info on it like before. Why???

Not possible when storing Contacts in iCloud, which is on by default. The iCloud backup file does not contain any Contacts when syncing to iCloud.

5. Check SIM Card:
- If you saved contacts to your SIM card, ensure that the SIM card is properly inserted in your new phone and that your contacts are imported.
- Go to Settings > Contacts > Import SIM Contacts.

The iPhone does not save any Contacts on the SIM card. That is a feature for those that had a SIM card from a device that did store contacts there. Since the OP already had a previous iPhone the contacts would be stored in iCloud by default or on the device if they did manually shut off iCloud storage of the Contacts. You cannot store contacts on the SIM card using an iPhone.

Specifically for the OP in this case.

  • If the contacts were synced by a third party service, review this Support Article to add that account.

If you store contacts in a third-party email service, you can add the email account to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Then check that Contacts is enabled.

  • If the contacts were stored on your device only and you shut off iCloud syncing of Contacts, you will not be able to recover those contacts from a broken device.
  • If your iCloud storage was full, your phone will no longer sync any new data including the backup.
  • Which contacts are you able to view at iCloud.com?

Hopefully if you can provide a little more information about the missing contacts or how they were previously managed and if you set up the new phone from a backup, we can help you recover those contacts.

If your contacts are missing after switching to your new iPhone 14 Pro Max, it could be due to a few reasons. Here are some common troubleshooting steps to recover your contacts:

1. Check iCloud Settings:

- Ensure iCloud Contacts Are Enabled:

- On your iPhone 14, go to Settings > tap your name at the top > iCloud.

- Make sure that Contacts is toggled on. If it’s off, toggle it on, and your contacts should start syncing.

2. Restore from an iCloud Backup:

- If you had iCloud Backup enabled on your old iPhone, you can restore your contacts by performing an iCloud backup restore.

- Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings.

- Set up your iPhone again, and when prompted, choose to restore from an iCloud backup that was made from your iPhone 13 Pro Max.

3. Use iTunes or Finder Backup:

- If you had backed up your old iPhone to your computer using iTunes or Finder, you can restore the contacts from that backup.

- Connect your new iPhone to your computer.

- Open iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina and newer), select your device, and restore from the latest backup.

4. Check Third-Party Services:

- If you synced your contacts with another service like Google, Yahoo, or Outlook, ensure that these accounts are added to your new iPhone.

- Go to Settings > Passwords & Accounts > Add the relevant accounts and enable the Contacts option.

5. Check SIM Card:

- If you saved contacts to your SIM card, ensure that the SIM card is properly inserted in your new phone and that your contacts are imported.

- Go to Settings > Contacts > Import SIM Contacts.
