I totally get how frustrating it is when new tech doesn’t work, especially after being an Apple user for so long. It sounds like you’re dealing with a couple of issues on your new iPhone 16 Pro Max, (a lot of people have been, especially my brother) but you’re definitely not alone.
For the Apple Pay issue, where double-clicking the side button isn’t working, and you’ve already toggled the settings and restarted, here are a few more things to try:
• Make sure “Use Face ID for Apple Pay” is turned on in Settings > Face ID & Passcode.
• Check your region settings. Sometimes that can mess with Apple Pay. Go to Settings > General > Language & Region to make sure it’s set correctly.
• Lastly, check for any iOS updates under Settings > General > Software Update. Apple usually pushes fixes after launch.
For the macro video freezing, it might be a bug with the new camera hardware and software. Until Apple releases a fix, here are a couple of things you can do:
• The iPhone usually switches automatically to the macro lens, but try manually selecting the 0.5x lens or turning off auto macro in Settings > Camera > Auto Macro.
• Try closing the Camera app and reopening it or restarting your iPhone
Apple will most likely post a fix soon. Keep an eye on the iOS 18 Updates it’s still new so there is quite a few bugs that they need to patch. If it keeps happening, maybe check in with an Apple Store or an Repair center (That is authorized by Apple) to see if they can help with your problems.
