Markup Will Alter Image Brightness!

I often use the 'Preview' app on macOS to edit my images from my iPhone for various purposes, such as adding text or marking parts of the images. Recently, I updated my macOS to macOS Sequoia and noticed that when I use the Markup tool, I get a message that says, 'Markup will alter image brightness. Editing this image with Markup will automatically adjust the brightness to improve legibility.'

It decreases the photo brightness by around 50%, and I don't want this feature. Do you know how I can modify this setting?

I also don't remember this being a thing, but it is happening to wide gamut HDR photos when using Markup in both Preview and Photos on macOS Sequoia, as well as Photos on iOS 18.

Very annoying. We should be given the option; I don't want to ruin my photos beautiful highlights!

While we're on the subject of Markup, a silly inconsistency that has been present for several years now is when adding a shape on a Mac vs adding the same shape on iPhone, the orientation when propagated is DIFFERENT, rotated 90º, between a Mac and an iOS device. This wouldn't be such a big deal if Markup had proper 45º/90º snapping rotation increments for Markup objects, but it doesn't, so you're forever stuck with imperfect rotations, or forced to use Markup on the device that actually generates the shape in the orientation you want without rotation, which ever that is for your use. Really, really silly inconsistent UI/UX problems.
