iPhone 16 w/IOS 18 -can’t log into some apps

I have disabled Screen Time and all my apps have now started working again.

This happened to me with Facebook and Instagram on new iPhone 16. I couldn't log in to either.

It wasn't the VPN.

I got into Instagram by 'authorising' the log in via my iPad (lucky I had one because the notification did not go to my Mac laptop).

I got into Facebook by using "try another way" option, which allowed the code to be emailed (Instagram did not have the email option).

When you tried the VPN solution did you actually DELETE any VPN profiles? Delete the VPN profile by going to  Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile. If that fixes it, you can try reinstalling VPN.

Those are both Meta products, so you will have to deal with their help center.

As you are having the same issue, it would be logical to read the rest of the messages in the thread you posted to. AFTER you do that, if you don’t find the solution there, post back with what you tried.

BTW, there is no major bug. If there was you would see 10,000 posts about it. There is a problem with your phone hardware, your software configuration, or some junk apps you installed on your iPhone.

And if you have the SAME issue, that is, American Airlines and Yahoo Fantasy, you need to contact those app developers; it has nothing to do with Apple.

I had the same problem. In safari change open links to in background. Apparently some websites will not let you open another page.

Did you also delete your VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN? If this doesn’t fix the problem it is really a Facebook problem, not an Apple problem, and I have seen a lot of posts about it. One thing that has worked for some users is to log in to Instagram, then Facebook.

Its different apps for different people it seems and not related to phone nor just ios 18 but link between ios18 and some apps. So mine is tesla app and other local insurance apps. very annoying… apple and the companies need to fix this! ASAP!

I suspect that no one thought if it because it would be very unusual to block all cookies. The setting itself is buried deep in Safari Settings under advanced, and when to turn it on you are warned that it will block access to most websites - and Apps are just cleaner interfaces to websites:

My husband just got his new iPhone 16 and he cannot log into X. No where to even try to log in. He has tried every fix he possibly can but it actually says if he deletes and re downloads the app he will lose all his data. Waiting for a fix on this problem.
