Since upgrading to MacOS Sequoia every time I set the Mac to sleep it automatically wakes. So the computer is basically on the whole time. I have set the machine to power off after 2mins and it still wakes. Please help.

Is it waking when a Notification comes in or is there an App that is preventing it from sleeping. To check if it is an App, open Activity Monitor in your Utilities folder and choose the Energy tab. The column on the right called "Preventing Sleep" will identify any apps that will not allow your computer to sleep.

On a Mac running a SSD really necessary to have the Mac go to sleep. I could understand it if you were using a HD, since you would get longer life out of the spinning platters, but since there isn't any mechanical parts that are moving on present day Mac's, is it worth it putting a Mac to sleep?

the screen is on all night when plugged into a monitor, even if I shut the laptop :(
