There is probably no such malware on your Mac. Gonor.xyz is a fake; what it does is pop up spurious "notifications" that your Mac is infected, trying to scare you into either paying for their nonexistent "tech support" or into giving them your personal information so they can then steal your identify. If you've shut off those notifications and you didn't fall for their scam and allow something to be downloaded and installed, that's all you need to do.
If, however, you did fall for their scam and downloaded something, get Malwarebytes:

available free, and have it take a look.

- Safari -> Settings (or Preferences), then click Websites, then click Notifications. Scroll through the list of websites and look for websites that don’t want to receive notifications from. Anything that shows Allow can send you messages, so switch them to Deny if you do not want to see their messages.
- You might also need to clear Website Data (on the Privacy tab).
- Finally, you may want to turn off the setting to "Allow websites to ask permission to send notifications"

Many thanks for the information Varjak paw. I went to Safari & clicked "Clear All History" and that seems to have resolved the problem.
Kind regards
Thank you so much! You were correct, when I went to notifications, that website was listed as having permission to send me notifications. I went from "Allow" to "Deny". Expecting that will solve the issue. Thanks again!!
Many thanks to Dorset Man and Varjak paw ... I performed both actions and they appear to have solved the issue
Hi Vincent,
it’s 3 weeks since I took my action & there has been no further issues arising. So you can rest assured your system is safe as well. 👍
I cleared the cache/history. It's still popping up! Annoying! Any thoughts?
Glad that sorted it. Cheers.
Thank you for your advice. I kept getting that gonor pop-up and was stressed that my Imac had a virus despite the Malwarebytes scan showing nothing. I have followed your steps.
Hi Paul,
Hope you’re now free of the threat. It certainly worked for me & there has been no further problems.
