Apple USB-C to Lightning Adapter incompatible with Lightning Dock on iPhone 16 Pro

I've had near perfect success with the Apple USB-C to Lightning Adapter for most of my 3rd party accessories EXCEPT for Apples own Lightning Dock that allows for high quality 3.5mm audio output while charging.

When connected to an iPhone 16 Pro it's reporting that the device is not supported.

Is somebody else able to test this setup as well to ensure it's not just me?

I also have a 5C and a 5S dock stored somewhere which I am tempted to also try, but I would either need a lightning extension cable which apple doesn't make or I would need to grind the plastic on the housing or the USB-C to Lightning Adapter get them to interface.
