iPhone 16 Pro Ultrawide Camera Problem

when I was recording a video of the beach and the sun using the ultra wide lens on my iPhone 16 pro, the camera keeps stopping whenever the ultrawide lens hits the bright sun. I’ve never had this problem with my previous iPhone 15 pro max and I’m quite surprised and shocked that this is happening on my new 16 pro. Anybody know why the camera keeps failing when I record a video of an extremely bright object such as the sun? I hope this is temporary and hoping it will be fixed with the next iOS update because this issue is bothering me. If anyone has any feedback,pointers, or know why this is happening please let me know. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing. I still have the same problem with recording using the ultra wide camera. Actually, the ultra wide camera freezes, stop, and restarts whenever I record 4k videos. It does not cause problem when recording in lower resolution (1080p and active mode 2k). However, I do not want to record lower quality videos and I specifically bought the iPhone 16pro (coming from 15 pro max) for its video and photo capabilities. I went to the Apple Store and they did diagnostics on my phone and it was determined that this is a software issue. They recommended I reset my phone, which I did, but the problem is still there whenever I record videos using ultra wide camera under strong lighting environment (beach and the sun). I’m so frustrated that I am just getting another new iPhone 16 pro. APPLE needs to fix this software bug!!! This phone is too expensive to cause this kind of problem!

Hi,

I have the same problem when using the ultra wide angle camera and the dynamic range is higher than usual (which I guess has to do with HDR).

I just downloaded the update which is said to fix the problem but I still have the issue just tested it. Hope apple comes out with something soon as this is a workflow killer for work in real estate.

I finally found someone who had the same problem as me.When I want to use the ultra-wide angle camera, the image gets stuck and sometimes the phone restarts itself.

No, my problem was not solved with the iOS 18.0.1 update.Apple store said my 3rd iPhone 16 was defective and the iPhone 16 pro order was processed for the 4th time.This is unbelievable.Yes, I will have my 4th iPhone 16 Pro in 20 days.Yes, it's always the same problem, it gets stuck on the wide angle camera and starts over again.
