WhatsApp - Can't type in chat after looking at contact/group info

For example, I look at the profile picture, and when I leave, the chat bar has no blinking cursor and typing gives me the error sound. The mouse does change into a type cursor. Quitting and relaunching the app seems to fix this but it's really annoying. Can anyone else confirm this?
