Endless iCloud Login on windows PC after recent update of Windows to KB

Rab updates on a machine that is used about once a month. Now it keeps prompting me to log in for iCloud. Enter password sends a verification code request to the iPhone. Click allow on the phone get code and enter it. Apple logo cloud spins and then it asks to log in again. cannot get out of the loop.
