Where can I buy a refurbished iPad from Apple?

You can only buy Apple refurbished iPads from Apple's Online Refurbished store. Only available in certain countries.

If you want an iPad that's been refurbished by Apple, you have to buy from the online Apple Store. Apple does not to my knowledge sell refurbished devices through physical Apple Stores. Any other store that says they're selling something "refurbished" will go through their own process, some of which are completely useless and in cases I've seen even damaging. Check with any such reseller to find out exactly what their "refurbishment" process entails.

To see if Apple refurbs are available for your country or region, scroll to the bottom of your country's Apple home page and look at the links at the bottom. This is from the US home page:

If you see a link for "Certified Refurbished" as in the above image, they are available to you but, again, as others have said, only by web ordering.

I've seen plenty of sad tales here from people who bought "refurbished" Macs from other than Apple. Please don't join them.

Hi, in addition to the excellent advice provided, consider buying new. Some retailers (Amazon or big box stores) offer generous discounts that may rival the price of a refurbished model.
