new iPhone 16 pro IOS18 QR codes not working

We have a business that sells toys and they have a unique QR code for customers to register online.

I've just got the new iPhone 16 yesterday running IOS18 and QR codes wont scan.

I got it to work once, when setting camera to zoom level 5, but only once out of 50 odd tries.

I did find another option in settings for "Camera Control" -> "Code Scanner", which again worked very seldomly, probably twice out of 20 tries.

Is this a iOS Bug?

iphone 14 pro - QR codes blurry in 3rd party apps I found a few other community members have similar problems - but the replies often just explain how to scan QR codes with the regular camera app. I find my iPhone behavior extremely strange. With the camera app I get good fotos even for items in very close range - the macro mode works perfectly fine. An ALL 3rd party apps the behavior is quite different - the camera never focusses and all images in close range stay blurry. Therefore I cannot scan QR codes. Apple support told me to reset, update etc. but all in vain. This is rediculous - this is obviously a software glitch.

QR Codes vs. iPhone 14 My new iPhone 14 will not scan the QR code on lottery scratch ticket to submit for a 2nd chance. The camera won’t focus and goes blurry. My iPhone 13 did not do this. Disappointing.
