Connecting ASUS monitor to Macbook Air M2

Hello, I am having issues connecting my ASUS (27” (27-inch viewable) Eye Care Monitor (VZ27EHF) - Full HD (1920 x 1080), IPS, 100Hz, 1ms, Frameless, Adaptive-Sync, HDMI) monitor. I am connecting via an HDMI cord and hdmi to usbc dongle (LENTION USB C Hub Multiport Adapter with 100W PD Charging). I am unable to get my monitor to recognize that it is connected to my laptop, however, my laptop recognizes that the monitor is connected. I have tried just about everything that I can find on the internet to help but nothing seems to make a difference. Of note, my monitor was able to connect to my ipad with the same dongle and cord just fine, as well as my old macbook pro.

The only odd thing that i have noticed is that when I go into display settings and click on my monitor, the refresh rate is set at 25hz and there are no other options to change it to. I know this monitor can support up to 100hz, so I am not sure why this is the only option. I also cannot find an option to change my laptop's refresh rates. Any tips would be appreciated, I use this monitor frequently for school and don't want to buy a new one :')

This is probably related to

the refresh rate is set at 25hz

The tables in the monitor manual indicate that the monitor can operate in 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz mode. However, there are no entries indicating that it can operate at a refresh rate as low as 25 Hz.

If some negotiation involving the computer, the hub, and the monitor is leading the computer to conclude that it's talking to a monitor with a refresh rate of 25 Hz, the monitor may be refusing to display the video signal, because that signal does not have one of the preset timings.

I suppose that you could try a different USB-C hub, or USB-C (DisplayPort) to HDMI adapter.

Asus – ASUS VZ27EHF Eye Care Gaming Monitor – 27 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080), IPS, Frameless, 100Hz, Adaptive-Sync, 1ms MPRT, HDMI, Low Blue Light, Flicker Free, Wall Mountable

Looks like there is only one video input – a HDMI input. Note that while your Mac can support a very high resolution monitor, there is no guarantee that you can drive any monitor at a refresh rate greater than 60 Hz.

Amazon – LENTION USB C Hub with 100W Charging, 4K HDMI, Dual Card Reader, USB 3.0 & 2.0 Compatible 2023-2016 MacBook Pro, New Mac Air/Surface, Chromebook, More, Stable Driver Adapter (CB-CE18, Space Gray)

The description of this hub says that it has a "4K @ 30 Hz" HDMI output and that it "Support [sic] 3840x2160 4K@30Hz, 2560x1600 and lower resolutions at 60Hz."
