Scheduling text messages on iphone

Looks like this functionality is finally here on ios18.

Seems to work well if sending messages to other iPhone users, but if sending texts via SMS to non-iPhone users, the “send later” option doesn’t appear

Unable to text MYSELF a “send later” text message on iOS 18 It was so excited about the ability to schedule send later text messages. But it appears that I am unable to send them to myself, which makes this new feature pretty useless . Can we text ourself a message using the send later feature?

Hello!

Unfortunately, the way it works is your iMessage scheduled is sent to Apple's iMessage servers and holding the message until the designated time. Only iMessage is supported, so you won't be able to use it between SMS.
