MacBook Pro 2017 Not Allowing OS Update from High Sierra 10.13.6

I am trying to update my MacBook Pro 2017 from High Sierra 10.13.6 to at least Catalina 10.15.7 however, "no updates" are available in the Apple Store...What should I do? Many thanks in advance!

Big Sur: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/macos-big-sur/id1526878132?mt=12

Catalina: https://apps.apple.com/sg/app/macos-catalina/id1466841314?mt=12

I found two or three by searching the Mac App Store, but not all older versions appear when searching. Why that is I don't know since it doesn't appear to be strictly associated with the age of the release.

Regards.

The GENERAL solution is contained in this article.

if you have a running MacOS, 10.9 Mavericks (fully updated) or later, try the LINKS Shown for the Mac App Store FIRST. Use the links to select the EXACT version you want.

If you approach the Mac App Store without this special link, you find they are ALL "Put Away" so that you Don't hurt yourself.

Hi, thank you. Although I don't want to go all the way to Ventura do to software compatibility issues. I would like to do Catalina or Big Sur.

Catalina and Big Sur will break 32-bit applications every bit as much as Ventura would. (Catalina is where Apple dropped support for 32-bit applications, and broke up iTunes.)

If you have 32-bit applications that you want to continue to run, you will want to remain on High Sierra or Mojave on at least one of your startup disks.

And, why are they not showing in the app store?

The App Store hides old versions of macOS by default. It will only show them if you go through special links, like the ones in this Support article.
