Sequoia upgrade causes external mouse issues on external monitors?

Thanks for the information. I haven’t had enough time to try it, but a mouse on macOS without pointer acceleration enabled is almost as bad as the jumpy mouse. The granularity is terrible.

The temporary solutions I’ve tried include powering the mouse on and off, running a script that restarts Bluetoothd, or disconnecting or bouncing the Wi-Fi with a script.

Next time it happens, I’ll attempt to disable Pointer Acceleration to see if it rectifies the issue in real-time. However, I’ve tried using a mouse without pointer acceleration, and it’s incredibly frustrating. It’s worse than my mouse lagging occasionally, which I can easily fix with a script or by executing “sudo pkill bluetoothd.”

I am having the same issues as you and others. I run two external monitors for my Macbook Pro. Since doing the upgrade to Sequoia 15.3.1 I have had nothing but issues with my mouse operating eratically. I was using the Apple Bluetooth wireless Magic mouse. I have been on with Apple 4 times and they have had me test in safe mode, disconnect the mouse, uninstall and re-install many of my other applications (Pdf, Zoom, 1Password etc) as they felt that these were the items causing such, then uninstalled Sequoia and did a re-install and nothing is working. Finally I bought a new Apple Bluetooth wireless Magic mouse to see if might have been my older mouse, but again it is still happening. If I use the mouse solely with my macbook things are fine. Very frustrating with no solutions.

After using Apple Mice and Trackpads for 18 years, I recently bought a Logitech MX Master 3S, and I’m incredibly impressed with it. I use it with the USB dongle on my problematic MacBook Pro and Bluetooth on my Mac mini. Notably, it has a button similar to the one on my Logitech MX keyboard, enabling me to connect up to three devices simultaneously. Switching to the USB connection has been a game-changer. It’s significantly faster at polling because it’s not restricted to the 2.4GHz Bluetooth standard, although it still operates within the 2.4GHz band. The Logitech MX Master 3S has truly been a lifesaver for me, and I expect its continued usefulness for the foreseeable future. Oh, and it’s programmable, although it took about a week to get used to not swiping.

Not for me. I'm still encountering issues. Sequoia 15.0.1. Apple Magic mouse A1657. Macbook Pro 2021 M1 Pro, external screen (Samsung) over USB-C.

The issue is that after some time mouse clicks are not registered anymore, or get stuck (getting into selection mode as a result). The issue then also is the same when using the internal trackpad

Going into sleep and starting again solves the issue temporarily

I'm having a similar issue with the Apple Mouse and AirPods Max Headphones.

Issue: mouse lagging in movement, frequent audio drops when playing music.

The issue started for me last week, shortly after the AirPod Max firmware upgrade on Oct. 22nd.

I have a similar issue. My cursor stops, starts again when I wiggle it, typing lags, doesn't matter what application and does it using external and internal mouse/trackpad/keyboard. Temporary fix if I re-start my computer, but I can't keep doing that all day. I discovered the culprit is my external monitor, an Acer K243Y connected using HDMI - if I disconnect, the problem goes away. My old eyes really need the monitor, though - 13" really is a small screen.

Any ideas?

December 17th, 2024 and YES, it is still an issue. I have tried everything. I am running Sequoia 15.2 It is a nightmare in Logic trying to do anything in Piano Roll and is mostly related to movements using the Left click. I know it is Serquoia because it is an issue with my mouse on all Apps. For the love of God Apple fix this.

In my case, I have a bluetooth mouse and a wired mouse, both from Logitech. In both cases the glitch is happening. Also, I have a single external monitor, and I don't use any extra software to manage the monitors, so I guess the issue come from the OS update

January 6th, Sequoia 15.1.1 (24B91), Macbook Pro 16" 2019, Logitech M350 bluetooth mouse, 2 external Viewsonic monitors, USB-c to HDMI.

Mouse is very laggy and seems to latch on to screen widgets. Almost unusable.

I upgraded in October. It’s been a nightmare. I’ve been on the phone with Apple Support twice, they remote logged in. Apple doesn’t believe it’s a problem with Sequoia. I believe that it is. I have tried everything. I use logic pro. I’m a mixing engineer music producer. It has completely ruined my work flow. If I delete the mouse playlist it’ll work OK for about an hour and then it goes right back to having mouse latency, precise movements with the mouse are destroyed. The left click doesn’t work half the time. You have to left click five or six times before anything happens. It’s an absolute catastrophe.

I have three machines running Sequoia with external display(s) and Bluetooth accessories. All have 16GB of RAM.

1. M1 Mac mini, Apple Bluetooth Magic Mouse, Apple Bluetooth keyboard, dual displays (Thunderbolt and HDMI)
2. M3 MacBook Air, Apple Bluetooth Magic Mouse, Sony Bluetooth speaker, Thunderbolt display
3. 2019 Intel MacBook Pro, Satechi Bluetooth Mouse, external display via USB-C dock/HDMI

None of them have mouse/trackpad issues whatsoever. The mini and MBP have wired USB Wacom tablets and pen performance is normal as well.

I also encounter serious problems with the mouse, MacOS ignores the clicks:

I am using a Cherry Gentix BT mouse over a bluetooth connection, and I do have an external monitor connected via a HDMI/ Satechi docking station, all on an MacBook Pro with M1 chip. After I installed MacOS Sequoia 15.4. the clicks on the mouse often do not work. About 20% of all mouse click are ignored by MacOS!!!

(The mouse works perfectly on the same MacBook Pro in Sonoma or on Windows, so the mouse itself is okay.)

This is a serious issue - The mouse not working on MacOS in 2025?

The problem does NOT occur, when I connect another Logitech mouse via USB.

Please Apple, fix this immediately.

I am having the same issue. I tried modifying the settings which are possible to modify including pointer acceleration and it made no difference. The mouse is drifting when I do not want it to drift. The pointing is imprecise. All of this became evident as soon as the new OS was upgraded. It is most noticeable during fine movements and it becomes impossible to aim properly with the mouse or maintain a field of view when playing a game on the computer.

I have confirmed the same behavior with an old battery powered Magic Trackpad hence the reason I think it is realted to Bluetooth devices.
