MacBook Air battery is draining faster after the Sequoia update

After updating my MacBook Air to macOS Sequoia, I’ve noticed a significant drop in battery performance. Previously, my MacBook could last more than 5 hours on a full charge, but now it struggles to hold more than 3 hours. Additionally, there are other performance issues I’ve noticed since the update, including Battery and MacBook Air general performance and so much lagging

Could you please advise on how I can fix these issues and restore my battery’s previous performance? I would appreciate any troubleshooting steps or guidance you can provide.

Thank you for your support.

May be some incompatible service is causing the issue. I had the same issue with my M1 Macbook air after the Sequoia update. For me, it was an old (not fully compatible with the latest OS I guess) web cam utility that was causing the issue. Uninstalled it and looks like it's back to normal.

Open Activity Monitor > Energy Tab. Sort by Energy Impact.

Stop/Uninstall the one that's impacting (highest number) the most.

I have the same problem on a new 15" M2 Macbook Air bought in July of this year, it has barely 10 charge cycles and before the update to Sequoia 15 it consumed 2% in 2 to 3 hours of light use, now it drops 2% every 30 min! This is unacceptable

I have already followed the recommendations described here such as checking that there are no high consumption programs or leaving it on connected so that it can reindex after the **** update and still nothing.

The battery is consumed even when suspended and stored in its case, so I have chosen to turn it off completely between each use.

Hi Mac mates, I have the same problem here, so sad!!!! I have a MacBook Pro M3; before updating to Sequoia, the battery lasted more than 8 hours without plugging in the power. Now it lasts 4 hours, more or less. Also, before updating to Sequoia, the laptop didn't take battery when suspended, but now I put the Mac in my backpack, go to work, and surprisingly, I find the battery down. WHAT IS HAPPENING??????

Okay, first off I’m glad others have reported this issue. Have a MB Pro 13” 2020 Intel i5; been working phenomenally for last 4 years, until recently - now my situation’s a bit unique, dropped a few drops of water near the right charging port but before liquid could penetrate wiped thoroughly, Mac’s been working fine since, ports as well, but since I was being overtly observant, I spotted the fast battery drainage issue (2% every 15 to 20 min). Ran an Apple diagnostics, all clear. Was wondering if I should reset SMC / NVRAM? I had updated to Sequoia few days prior btw.

Would appreciate some input my fellow Mac-ers 🙏🏼

Same problem i have a 15 inch macbook pro from 2018 (2.2 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7). Since the update to Sequoia the laptop has been behaving very strangely where it doesn't switch on, saying that the battery is empty however when I connect the power cable it turns on and the battery display is at 37%, 43% or even as high as 77%. I checked the battery health and it says it is normal. This only started happening since updating to Sequoia last week.
