iphone 16 pro charging over set limit

I set my battery charge limit to 90% but it charged all the way to 100%, I’m new to iPhone, am I missing something?

With a charging limit enabled, your iPhone will occasionally charge to 100 percent to maintain accurate battery state-of-charge estimates.

iPhones will periodically charge to 100% even if you set a lower value. It does this to provide a checkpoint to manage the actual state of charge.
