Paying someone a very large amount of money to do something incredibly simple is nonsense. Learn how to do such simple tasks yourself.

It doesn't have to be Adblock Plus. There are numerous ad blockers in the App Store, and a fair number of them are free.

We've been using the free Ka-Block! on our iPads, iPhones and Macs for years. It works just as well as the rest of them we've tried.

And by the way, these forums are full of experienced users who know just as much, and often more about computers than the Geek Squad.

Careful of what? Saying Google? Say it as many times as you want.

If you're seeing that many ads, I would suspect you've installed adware. And possibly more than one.

Download and run EtreCheck. It's a tool written by fellow forum user, etresoft. Its main purpose is to take a snapshot of your hardware configuration and what apps are running so we don't have to play 20 questions to get that information.

When the app has finished running, click the Share report button at the top, then Copy report to get it onto the clipboard. All personal information is automatically redacted.

The reports are long and typically do not fit into a reply box (text limit on the forum). Instead, click the Additional text button and paste it there.

As an example, here's mine.

Forget the rating. I've tried at least a dozen ad blockers over the past couple of years (just to see if anything else worked better, or different). None of them worked any better than Ka-Block!. Some added so much junk (I'm looking at you, AdGuard) to the system they actually made things worse. Like slowing Safari down to half speed.

If you're talking about the "Switch to Google" (aka, Chrome), popups at the upper right on a lot of sites, no ad blocker will stop those. Google pays those sites a fee to incorporate that obnoxious thing right into the site's HTML. Since it's not tagged as an ad, it doesn't get blocked.

Ka block referals have 2.8 rating, on Internet there are endless adblockers, all I want is to stop G.... from taking over 1/2 of my computer screen with their ads,

Oh! That's a different story.

Bear in mind no ad-blocking product can prevent all such intrusive things. The Goolag is very good at circumventing content blockers. Their revenue depends on it. If they have to pay hundreds of millions of dollars in fines for violating the law so be it, it's a drop in the bucket for them.

I don't use content blockers. I just don't patronize sites that need their content blocked. Why would I want to support them?

The participants of this site understand the current Internet far more than most so-called IT Professionals™.

Do not call the Geek Squad. They will wreck your Mac and charge you for it.
