Hearing Aids and Dock Connector Problems

I stream sound from my iPhone 13 to my Hearing Aids. If I connect to a charging cord the sound cuts out and I have to manually switch from Dock Connector to Hearing Aids. I have not been able to correct this through settings and am wondering why my phone “thinks” I am connecting to the Dock Connector attached to my laptop even when it isn’t.
