S key on keyboard types two s's when I press it.

On a 2019 MacBook running Sonoma, I've noticed now that when I type an s, two s's appear. The other keys work as they should.

I tried resetting the PRAM and SMC but it still happens.

Could it be the keyboard is needs replacing?

Thank you!

Try cleaning the keyboard using the instructions in the following Apple article in case some dirt & crumbs are causing the problem. Make sure to keep the can of compressed air fully upright or you may damage the laptop with cold wet propellant.

If cleaning the keyboard did not help, then you will need to have the Keyboard replaced (expensive since it also includes the entire Top Case Assembly which contains the palmrest, Battery and Touchbar & Speakers). The repeating key issue is a well known symptom of the dreaded Butterfly keyboards used in 2016 to 2019 (I believe the 16" model may use the older traditional & reliable scissor mechanism).
