How can capture multiple images from video?

I am trying to use my camera’s focus bracketing but I want to select the images from the MP4 file that it produces.

The MP4 video file requires splitting into single frames. is there any way I can do this on my iMac, running Sonoma 14.6.1

The obvious route, to me, is Quicktime but this is tedious to select many single frames and make tiff or jpeg files from a lot of frames.

I have looked at frame grabber software and VLC but I cannot find one that works. Any suggested apps?

Any advice on how to a few seconds of video into single frames for stacking?
