Why does AirTag sound change when positioned differently?

I have found that when wearing an AirTag bracelet, it is much louder if the silver back is touching the skin. We have one for all 4 of our kids. I just changed the batteries in them and was testing it out. I have always kept the silver side on the inside of the bracelet for fear of it accidentally getting unscrewed and the battery falling out. But, when you do that, you cannot hear the sound because the body absorbs it. When I flipped it around, it sounded much louder.

FWIW, here's why ...

... The speaker in an Apple AirTag is located on the outer ring of the device, around the edge. It uses the metallic back of the AirTag itself as a resonator. The sound is projected outward from this ring, facing toward the back of the AirTag (the side with the polished stainless steel cover).

Since there are no visible speaker holes on the AirTag, the vibrations generated by the speaker are transmitted through the metal back of the tag, allowing sound to escape evenly across the back side.
