Can I play music from ripped CD's on a current MacBook Pro (made using a peripheral)?

I want to upload my many old CD's onto my MacBook Pro as I no longer have another place to play them easily. I was told by someone that it won't work, but read on here that it will if moved from another (older) computer.

Does anyone know if this holds true if I rip CD's using a peripheral device directly onto my computer?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 14.3

Sure you can. For instructions, see:

As Kaz-K said, you will of course need a compatible CD drive. You don't need an Apple SuperDrive; any compatible CD drive, of which there are a number, should work.
