How do I get rid of the hidden app folder in the App Library?

How do I get rid of this hidden app folder in the App Library. It’s so suspicious and unnecessary. I don’t want this on my phone and I feel like apple is encouraging a culture where people lie hide and cheat. Help me remove this.

I want an option to hide it, or turn it off, as well, as it’s annoying to look at, when I go to my App Library. I don’t hide apps, so it’s completely useless to me. A simple setting to turn it off, or hide it is needed.

Given you are seemingly obligated to share your password, and seemingly obligated to defend against assumptions of mistrustfulness, the central issue here seems to not be technical, with no lasting technical solution.

Even if you here got what was requested, I’d expect other issues and other concerns to arise.

Is there somebody you can privately discuss your current situation with? A trusted friend or relative?

I agree. The hidden folder in the app library should have a button in settings that enables or disables its use. If the folder is disabled, it should not even be displayed. The default should be disabled.

Apple isn’t big on options, especially for features that users can forget their phones have, as it leads to many unnecessary support calls. You can see this with the recently deleted folders in Photos and Messages, where there are a constant stream of “where is the x$%^&% recently deleted folder”, because it only appears after you delete something. Apple apparently decided not to make this mistake with the hidden apps folder.

The hidden folder does no harm in the App Library, where users never go unless they’ve lost sight of an app. Which brings to mind the swarm of messages saying “how do I get rid of the App Library”.

This is a much asked for (indeed; actually demanded) feature that Apple included in iOS 18. You don’t have to use it. But if, for example, you let your kids play games on your phone and you don’t want them to see some of your adult content apps, or games you don’t want them to mess up your score in, you can put them in the Hidden folder. Likewise for apps you may not want your spouse to know about.

I am perturbed that they added it without an option to shut it off. I am the type to not hide things from my husband but the existence of it on my phone especially with him being an android user and not understanding really has caused an undertone of turmoil. And I’m not the only

This is a “him” issue, not a “you” issue.

There will always be something available to cause that turmoil, too.

You are so right. You cannot fix problems with tech but you can create problems with tech and this is a classic example of that

You can’t ever get to that place you might want and might imagine, because there will always be faults to be found.

There will always be opportunities for mistrust to exist and grow, always be opportunities for mistrust to be created, and always opportunities for control to be exerted.

Always.

If there aren’t any levers — pristine behavior, no mobile phone at all, just a shared landline phone — entirely imagined levers can be created wholly new. You’ll be claimed to have a second, secret, hidden mobile phone, or whatever other lever is imagined necessary.

Richelieu, DARVO, lots of examples exist, and there many good and fine observations to learn from.

Again, you cannot solve a people problem with tech. There will always be opportunities for mistrust, and for abuse.
