How do I get rid of the hidden app folder in the App Library?

How do I get rid of this hidden app folder in the App Library. It’s so suspicious and unnecessary. I don’t want this on my phone and I feel like apple is encouraging a culture where people lie hide and cheat. Help me remove this.

This folder cannot be removed, but that may change in the future if apple decides to update based on feedback posted via https://feedback.apple.com. Since this is just a community discussion thread, this answer is the most any of us random folk can do for you or others with the same problem. Please do send feedback to apple on the issue. If it becomes a big enough request, they might actually make a change.

I want to hide the 'hidden folder' because I want sometimes to hide apps (eg banking apps) when I am out and about and wouldn't want someone to access my phone and know where I keep my money - so lets have a folder thats actually hidden!

You have bigger problems if you are giving other people the passcode to your device that you do not trust. Change your Passcode immediately and do not share it, then you have nothing to worry about.

No, it's not common.

You can always delete the banking apps after you use them. Only install them when you need them. Seems a little paranoid to me, but if it helps you sleep at night....

That is a stretch. Don't you think it would be much easier for them to take your card from your wallet and force you to give them your PIN number? If that is honestly your concern, you would not be carrying any bank cards and you would not have a bank app on your phone. Fixating on any possible scenario such as that is like saying car manufacturers should restrict vehicle speed to 5mph since it is possible to be injured at higher speeds.

Why include a feature that puts vulnerable people at increased risk? Allowing users to rename the folder or delete it should be an option. Additionally, when apps are no longer of interest, we should be allowed to permanently delete them from our account. These two features have made me strongly consider moving from Apple to the Google Pixel or Samsung. I have been an Apple user for 18 years, but perhaps it is time for a change.

Same here. I don’t want my bf thinking I have smthing to hide. This could be a safety issue for women n dv relationships. We all need to band together and have apple remove this for safety reasons

Hello~ If in case you fear retribution then you have an issue that can’t be resolved by removing a folder on your iPhone. The folder isn’t the issue.

I agree completely with Katana-San on this. If having a folder, no one has to use, which is on EVERY iPhone could cause someone harm from an abusive person, they need to either get away from that person or seek counseling. That's out of the scope of what this forum is for.

Only you can put something in the Hidden Folder. You open it the same way you unlock the device, so you will need either FaceID/TouchID or your Passcode. Not that difficult. You cannot get rid of the Hidden Folder and it will remain even if there is not anything in it. It would be awfully suspicious if it only appeared when you had something to hide, don't you think.

Over the past 9 months this has been discussed ad nauseam in the 9 pages of the thread you just added to and there is nothing to be said beyond what has been posted dozens of times. why don’t you go read the other posts?

I totally agree. Not everyone is rational. Some women are in relationships with men who won’t believe them. It really is dangerous. A drunk abusive crazy boyfriend or husband may use it as an excuse to beat his wife or girlfriend — “Oh yeh, sure Susan the app just comes with the update. You can’t remove it!? You don’t have a choice?!” It’s an easy scene to picture :(

I don’t like the hidden app folder on my phone at all. I think if people need it they should download it, like you do for app you really want to USE. If you have NO use for it, you should be able to delete it. It’s that simple. Considering how scammers find ways to use apps on your phone to trick seniors, they will eventually find a way to add a hidden app to our phones without our knowledge.
