Is there a way to revert just the Calculator App back to the iOS 17 version?

Is there a way to revert just the calculator app back to the iOS 17 version? I don't like the running calculation if I am adding more than two numbers together and not knowing what my running total is without constantly having to press the equals key. Used to be for example you could add say 1256+2376 and the next time you pressed plus you would have the answer to 1256+2376 displayed before you typed the next number to add to that total. now you just have 1256+2376+....... showing on the screen until you hit equals. SO ANNOYING APPLE!!!

I hate the new calculator. I can no longer add a % to a number and see what that additional amount is. I need to then minus the new total from the existing. SO ANNOYING APPLE!!!!!

When I access the calculator app, it is now in 2 sections. The upper section has the square roots, trig signs, squared, etc. The lower section has what it used to look like, making the plain calculation area much smaller.

I had noticed what others were complaining about with the string of operations, but the appearance is so different without even making any calculations. I just really need the simple calls!

Is there something I did to cause it to appear this way, OR is this part of the new IOS update?

I can send a screen shot if necessary.

I’m with all of you. I think the new update to calculator is like “calculator for dummies”. Go back to the old version!!!

No you are NOT with all of us. If you read the thread you just added to you will see different opinions. Well, I think it’s better. No, Don’t go back to the old version. It won’t happen, however there is an update with 18.3 that you should check out.

I agree the new Calculator is totally annoying. I'm starting to go back to the old calculators I used 10 years ago. I wish there was an option provided by Apple to revert to the previous Calculator style.

Have you updated to iOS 18.3? Apple restored some of the features of the old app. But frankly, I never thought much of the calculator, old or new (although New is slightly better for my usage needs). My Go To calculator on my iOS devices is an HP-12C simulator, and for functions needing columns and totals I use the Numbers app, because I not only can see my errors, I can correct them without having to re-enter everything.

They want monthly fees or always popping up ads!

Did you try all of them? Some of them are free and don't have ads. PCalc, if I recall, is a one-time only charge. And, sometimes, we have to pay for what we want. But it's up to you. You can continue to be annoyed about Apple's version or you can pay a small amount of money and be happier.

RPN. If only. Loved my Hewlett Packard calculator.

The worse thing about the new calculator, is how the AC (All Clear) button disappears, so I have to hit delete counters times to clear the window.

If only this company was run by an accountant....

Update - I just discovered one can use the Apple Calculator in RPN mode: Enter expressions using Reverse Polish Notation (RPN) in Calculator on Mac – Apple Support (UK)

Can I up vote this 10000 times? The new calculator has negative functionality!

There wouldn't be much point to that. What can have an effect is telling Apple what you think:

Product Feedback - Apple

Meanwhile, there are lots of other calculator apps out there.

Any update on this?

If Apple changes the calendar again, those changes will appear in an iOS update. Nothing was mentioned in the release notes for iOS 18.2.

The new calculator is demonstrably worse; I don’t understand what possessed someone who was in charge of anything to convert the perfectly fine calculator app into this frankenstein monstrosity that has less normal functionality in exchange for weird “look at me I’m different :B look how speshul I am” functions that hardly anyone wants.

It's foolish to assume that everyone has the same needs or preferences that you do. Apple makes changes based on the huge amount of actual user data it has. Some of the changes, particularly how the equal key works appear to be based on that data and the years of people complaining about it. Personally, I have no issues with the new version and I use Calculator every single day.

I just want the normal quick function calculator back; please roll it back to the previous version or make an alternate version on the app store that we can download instead.

Apple isn't going to make two versions of Calculator. However, lots of third-party calculator apps are already in the App Store. PCalc is frequently recommended. Whether it will meet your needs or not is something I can't say.
