Issues with using third-party apps and printer after upgrading to macOS Sequoia

I recently update macOS to Sequoia and having many issues like third party apps like SwiftQuit, uBar etc those I have been using in older macOS does not work with Sequoia. Also installed printers not showing up after upgrading to Sequoia. Anyone else having this kind of issues?

Unable to duplicate. I created a new Text Edit document. In Text Edit > Settings, I have the format set to Rich Text for new documents. Then I dragged a png file to the open window and like you said the file format changed to rtfd. I was able to markup the photo and I added text to it. Then I went to File > Export as PDF and used a different name for the file and it was saved as a PDF. When I double clicked the PDF, it opened in preview exactly like it was in Text Edit with the picture and text I had added.

Third party apps that change how the OS normally operates such as SwiftQuit and uBar will need to be updated by the developer when the OS changes. The developers have had the beta version of MacOS for many months to test their software and provide updates. Specifically for Swift Quit, the company says:

Some users have reported issues with unwanted closing of windows or other problems so use at your own risk.

That is not a good sign, when they don't appear to address the reported problems other than saying use at your own risk.

For your printers, are they AirPrint printers? In this case, there is no additional drivers needed and many manufactures have quit updating their drivers. If they are AirPrint compatible printers, remove them and add them again using AirPrint/Bonjour as the driver type. This is done at  > System Settings > Printers & Scanners.

Think twice before updating to Sequoia 15. If you use third party software like Keyboard Maestro you are going to have a nightmare with constant 3rd party access permissions.

“Thur OFF - 13hr.app” wants access to control “Keyboard Maestro.app”. Allowing control will provide access to documents and data in “Keyboard Maestro.app”, and to perform actions within that app.

This now shows up on my hundreds of automated tasks that worked fine before. It's a nightmare. My entire automated system is now f----d. If Apple doesn't not fix this I might be forced to go back to their prior OS version and never update again. I'm loosing confidence on Apple products. Apple needs to stop updating stuff that works. Small businesses like mine that use their products are going to lock their software because they don't trust Apple anymore. Like me!

The fix will only come from Keyboard Maestro. Their latest version is 11.0.3, so make sure you at least have that version. They have had MacOS 15 for many months now to test and update their software. They have resolved some problems users had experienced with the 11.0.3 update, but it does not specifically say it supports Sequoia.

TextEdit - Export to PDF is broken. Used to be - you could include images in a text document, TextEdit would convert the doc to .rtfd Then you could export that to PDF, and have a nice document with pictures in it that are even resized to fit your page.

Now with Sequoia, TextEdit 1) does export images to PDF that are tiny e.g. 300 pixels wide are included, 2) exports only a tiny LHS sliver of images if a medium size image is included, 3) stops PDF creation entirely if a large image e.g. 2000 pixels wide included. All this worked normally until Sequoia.

The workaround is to abandon TextEdit and use Pages, which can still export to PDF.

Thanks for trying that out. I made a test suite of documents - once I saw the problem. I started adding very small images, .png or .jpeg, and then just a bit larger going up to normal size. No matter how many times I tried, the image resampling was turned off, and larger images that were never any problem for TextEdit just halted the Export to PDF process entirely.

I'm not sure how to submit my test suite here - and probably no point, nobody else will care. There will be new AI functions by the zillion, and text editing is probably lowest of any low list.

I thought of reverting to the previous OS, but what does work for me - I edit in TextEdit, and close the document, reopen in Pages, and Export from there, which works.

I do find it curious as to what could have changed. I looked for every possible setting, and reset anything I could to original settings, nothing. Thanks for trying.
