My pencil pro connects with my iPad Pro but won’t draw. What gives?

I’ve restarted the iPad Pro, disconnected blue tooth, forgot the device and it still doesn’t work. I get the pallet when squeezing the pencil but it won’t select anything from the palette nor will it draw.

Apple Pencil 1st Generation won't connect with my iPad Pro (9.7-in) I just got a 1st gen Apple Pencil, which the Apple support pages say should be compatible with my iPad (Pro 9.7 in). When I plug it in directly to the iPad, it charges, seems to pair and the tutorial popped up. But when I unplug it, it’s no longer connected. It shows up on the Bluetooth device list, but when I tap to connect it, I get a message that says “Apple Pencil Not Connected. Plug in Apple Pencil to use it with this iPad.” Pencil is fully charged, tip is new, software is up to date and I’ve tried restarting the iPad. Do I have to keep it plugged in to use it with this iPad? [Re-Titled by Moderator]
