Adding website to “safe sits” in Chrome on iPad Pro (iPadOS 17.06.01)

I use Chrome on my iPad Pro, which uses iPadOS 17.06.01. Some content on some websites just wont initialize for me in Chrome. I suspect it may be because my Chrome/iPad is treating the website or webpage as unsafe for the purposes of my iPad in some way - even though the websites in question are already included as safe in my Chrome account when I access it through other devices (e.g. my MacBook Pro), and even though I’m logged into my same Chrome account when trying to do this on my iPad.

So I’ve tried to separately add these sites as “safe” in Chrome when on my iPad. But this is currently proving to be completely impossible to try. I need a solution.

The standard advice online seems to go something like this: “1. Open Chrome app. 2. Click Settings. 3. Scroll to the bottom and click Show Advanced Settings. 4. Click Change proxy settings under Network. 5. Click the Security tab, then the Trusted Sites icon, and then Sites. 6. Enter the URL of the trusted site, then click Add. 7. Click Close, then OK.”

I’ve assumed that you access step 2 by clicking on the three horizontal dots to the right of the address bar when Chrome is open.

But step 3 just doesn’t exist for me. There is no tab called “Advanced Settings” visible in Chrome on this iPad using this iPadOS. To confirm, yes, I have updated Chrome. This tab didn’t exist in the previous version of Chrome, and it still doesn’t exist in the current version.

Given that it seems impossible going through Chrome itself, I’ve tried adding this site as a “safe site” outside of Chrome instead - i.e. by opening the general Settings app of the iPad itself, clicking on “Privacy & Security” and trying to add it that way. But there in those iPad Privacy & Security settings, there is no way of adding or removing websites or apps or anything else as being “trusted” or “safe”. This is absolutely maddening, and makes no sense. Why is it so difficult on an iPad when it is easy enough to do on a MacBook Pro?

I’d welcome clear and concrete advice on how I can solve this problem. Please do not just simply parrot the advice that is already out there online, which (as the above example shows) presupposes the existence of steps or tabs which for whatever reason just don’t exist on my iPad model, using this particular iPadOS. And please be absolutely clear about where each tab is to be found at each stage of the process. For example, just saying “open Chrome and click on Settings” misses out a whole load of information about exactly where that “Settings” tab is to be found, rendering the advice at best extremely difficult to follow, at worst useless.

If there is no solution, it means that there is defect with the iPad or the iPadOS and how they interact with Chrome. How can Apple in that case be forced to fix the defect?

Thank you
