kernal_task is using +100% CPU and 254GB virtual RAM

Hi,

I recently noticed that my MacBook is noticeably lagging, I checked the Activity Monitor and found a kernel_task consuming +100% CPU, +2000 Idle Wake Ups, and around 254GB virtual RAM.

MacBook type: MacBook Pro 2020

Chip: Apple M1

RAM: 8GB

macOS version: 15.0 (macOS Sequoia)

You can find the EtreCheckreport attached (the report was generated after a restart so, the usage numbers are different than those described above).

Thank you in advance :)

I think it's time for a factory refresh. Make a Time Machine backup. Then erase the hard drive and reinstall the operating system. You can restore your data from your backup, but only restore user files and user accounts. Do not restore any apps, software, system settings, or "other files". You will need to manually reinstall any 3rd party apps that you can't live without.

Reset your security to Full Security be more careful about uninstalling apps, especially anything that has a system extension.
