How do I upgrade my Macbook Pro

My macbook pro 13” mid2012 wont update past version 10.14.6. I am trying to get to version 14 and it tells me i can update to version 10.15.7 but when i try to update it, nothing happens and it js continues to show me i can update to 10.15.7

Your 2012 Mac cannot run macOS 14 Sonoma.

It CAN run macOS 10.14 Mojave. I CAN run macOS 10.15 Catalina.

Download the macOS 10.14 Mojave installer here:

The download will place the "Install macOS Mojave" app in the Applications folder. Double-click the installer to begin the upgrade process.

If you upgrade to Catalina,

32-bit applications will stop working,
iTunes will go away, replaced by separate applications,
You still won't be able to run current applications by vendors like Microsoft and Adobe, but
Catalina may be enough to run current versions of Firefox, LibreOffice, etc.
