If you turn your volume button up/down you will see a black line (shadow) right beside the white volume up/down indicator.
Same thing when you press the button to the right for the camera. The shadow is there as well.

There is nothing to fix. It's completely normal. If someone at Apple told you otherwise, they are mistaken.
Do you get this even when you have not opened a website on a web browser?
Yes. Nothing has to be open at all. It could be my home screen. No matter which of the buttons on the side of the phone I push the black shadow still exist. I have been researching and kind of playing with it a little bit some of the features just to see if I can fix it and I have not found a fix for it yet so this lets me know that this is some behind-the-scenes patchwork that needs to be done by Apple.
This is a new feature in iOS 18. If you press any button on your iPhone, you'll see this on either side of your iPhone screen, which simply lets you know you have pressed a button.
I have this discussion with Apple tech-support last night and it is not supposed to be happening.
