Moving I-Tunes Library to external hard-drive

I have run out of memory on my 1TB computer. My I-Tunes library is around 850MB of that memory. I am unable to consolidate or backup my library. Is there still a way that I can move the entire library to an external hard-Drive?

See also Make a split library portable - Apple Community. If things are in the standard layout it is usually possible to move the entire iTunes folder as a unit and then shift-start-iTunes to open the library from the new location. This is generally a better approach than consolidating to a new path as that complicates future migrations of the library, and doesn't address the clean up of the old location.
