I have IPhone 11. I just updated to ios 18. I use WhatsApp partially in German and partially in English. WhatsApp used to recognize mostly when I was trying to type in German. Since the upgrade this ability has disappeared. I added German as a second language in the IPhone settings but it did not fix the problem. The autocorrect changes my German typing into English words. Very frustrating!

Unless you see the problem in Apple apps, it is the 3rd party app makers who need to fix it. It's not uncommon to have this happen with multiple 3rd party apps needing further updating.

If you have two separate keyboards on your Keyboards list, you should be able to change via Globe key. If you also have a single item with two languages ("English & German"), that's one of the new multilingual keyboards and you may want to remove it and just have two separate ones.

Ask Whatapp, they may need to update their app to conform of ios 18.

Do I have to actively tell the app to use another keyboard perhaps if I want to write in German? If yes pray tell me how I do that. I have looked in settings and it seems I do have two keyboards now, but cannot find any info how I can switch from one to the other when being in an app.
