No AC Charging After Upgrade to Sequoia 15

After upgrading my 2020 15” MacBook Pro to Sequoia 15 on 28 September 2024, my laptop will no longer charge off of AC power. I can use the USB ports for other devices; however, it will no longer charge off of house/AC power. My battery is now at 20%. Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.

I wrote the original post. Mine is actually a 2019 and not 2020. First, I took the laptop to Apple. They ran some diagnostics (which failed) and advised the only thing g they could do is replace a component for $800, which may or may not fix it. Their recommendation was that instead of spending $800 I could spend a little more ($1200) to get a new laptop. I told him that it’s not apples to apples. I had one of the more expensive laptops (16” Pro) and that replacing with the cheapest Apple laptop wasn’t the same.

i decided to take it to a local computer repair shop in Alexandria, VA. The first thing he told me was to never get rid of the 2019 Pro and it’s one of the best laptops Apple has ever made. He spent a few days looking at it and found that an inexpensive module that controls power to the laptop was no longer working. He put power to it like a doctor would use the paddle cart to put power to a person’s heart in the ER and brought it back to life. My 2019 Pro is now working like a champ. It seems like the Sequoia initial upgrade does something to the power source inside the laptop. BUT it was fixable in my case. Take it to a computer shop with a high rating on Yelp and try it.

Hi everyone!

I am experiencing a similar case after updating to Sequoia 15.1

Basically, the battery gets stuck at 9/10% while is connected with the original cable and adapter or any other usb c cable. In the battery menu section, I have the status "Battery not charging".

Possible solution/workaround

I've found a workaround when I keep the cable connected, restart, and at that point it's charging well, but at the moment I will disconnect the cable, and re-connect, it will return me the same issue above.
